Eldoret City Prepares to Implement Key Development Projects Under Kenya Urban Support Program (KUSP)

Eldoret City is set to roll out a series of transformative projects under the Kenya Urban Support Program (KUSP), with local officials emphasizing the importance of adhering to high standards in project implementation.

As the city enters a new phase of growth, it stands as one of the biggest beneficiaries of donor grants, thanks to its strategic position as the economic hub of the North Rift and its crucial role as a gateway to the East African Community.

During a consultative meeting of the KUSP II National Project Coordination team held in Eldoret, City Manager Elseba Busienei highlighted the city's commitment to ensuring that all projects meet the highest quality standards.

“It is always our agenda and commitment to ensure that projects are implemented to the best standards for the benefit of the people of Eldoret and Kenya as a whole,” Busienei remarked, underscoring the city's resolve to enhance infrastructure and services.

As part of preparations for the next phase of KUSP funding, the city has actively engaged in a series of consultations to align its projects with the program's objectives. Busienei assured that Eldoret remains dedicated to timely submission of reports and full compliance with all financial and regulatory requirements to secure maximum funding.

Uasin Gishu County Secretary Philip Meli spoke on the need for robust financial management, urging that projects be closely monitored to ensure proper use of funds. “Sound financial management and diligent oversight are critical to the success of these initiatives,” Meli said.

Deputy Speaker Hon. Sarah Malel also reaffirmed the collaboration between the legislature and the executive, emphasizing that both arms of government are united in their mission to improve the lives of Eldoret residents. "We are working together for the betterment of the people of Uasin Gishu," she stated.

Nicodemus Mbwika, from the Council of Governors, facilitated a detailed presentation on the progress and implementation of ongoing projects. The meeting, attended by several key stakeholders, also featured County Executive Committee Members for Lands and Urban Development Edward Sawe, Finance Executive Micah Rogony, Chief Officer for Urban Development Mary Kerich, and County Attorney Sylvester Metto.

As Eldoret continues to thrive under the KUSP initiative, these coordinated efforts are expected to significantly improve infrastructure, urban planning, and service delivery, contributing to the city’s long-term growth and prosperity.
