Babu Owino Hosts ODM Leaders in Kawangware Amid Party Unity Talks

Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino on Sunday hosted a meeting bringing together key Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leaders in Kawangware, Nairobi, in what appeared to be an effort to ease internal party tensions and promote unity.

The meeting was attended by Siaya Governor James Orengo, ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, and Deputy Party Leader Godfrey Osotsi. The leaders, who are often associated with differing viewpoints within the party, held closed-door consultations with local leaders and party supporters.

Speaking after the meeting, Owino said the gathering was aimed at strengthening ODM’s grassroots structures and fostering cohesion ahead of future political engagements. He emphasized the need for dialogue within the party, noting that ODM’s strength lies in unity and collective decision-making.

The Kawangware meeting comes at a time when ODM has faced internal debates over leadership direction and party strategy. Political observers view the engagement as a significant step toward reconciling rival factions and consolidating support in key urban constituencies.
