Mombasa Woman Representative Hon. Zamzam Mohamed Recognized as an Award-Winning Leader
Mombasa County Woman Representative Hon. Zamzam Mohamed has been recognized among Kenya’s best-performing Women Representatives, a prestigious accolade highlighting her exemplary leadership and far-reaching impact on communities across the county.
The recognition comes in appreciation of her people-centered approach to leadership and her consistent efforts to uplift women, youth, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and vulnerable families in Mombasa. Throughout her tenure, Hon. Zamzam has championed programs that expand access to education, promote economic empowerment, and strengthen social protection systems.
Speaking after receiving the recognition, Hon. Zamzam said the award reaffirms the true purpose of public service.
“These awards remind me why service matters. From Second Chance Education, to women, youth and PWD empowerment, from GBV support centers to livelihood tools supporting families across Mombasa, every initiative is about changing lives,” she said.
Among her flagship interventions are education support programs for school dropouts, empowerment initiatives for women and youth entrepreneurs, and the establishment and strengthening of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) response centers to support survivors. Her development agenda has touched all constituencies within Mombasa County, earning her widespread admiration and support.
Hon. Zamzam emphasized that the recognition belongs not only to her office but also to the people of Mombasa.
