Uasin Gishu Leaders Mourn Bishop Joseph K. Likavo

Leaders across Uasin Gishu County have joined the Christian fraternity in mourning the sudden passing of Bishop Joseph K. Likavo of the International Vision Centre (IVC), Eldoret, describing his death as a profound loss to the church, the county, and the nation.

Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii led the tributes, saying the county had lost a spiritual pillar whose influence touched countless lives.

“Our city has lost a spiritual leader, Bishop Joseph Likavo, a devoted servant of God and a pillar of the IVC fraternity,” Governor Bii said. “His passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew him and in the many lives he touched through his dedicated service. We extend our deepest condolences to his wife, Mama Janet, his children, and the entire family. May God grant you strength, comfort, and peace. Poleni sana.”

Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago also expressed deep sorrow, describing Bishop Likavo’s life as a gift to many.

“My heart is heavy learning of the passing of Bishop Joseph K. Likavo of IVC Church–Eldoret,” Senator Mandago said. “His life of faithful service was a profound gift to so many of us. To Pastor Dan, Mama Janet, Joy, Maureen, the entire Likavo family, and the IVC fraternity, you are in my thoughts and prayers. Bishop Likavo’s legacy is eternal, and I rejoice that he has entered into his glorious reward.”

Kesses Member of Parliament CPA Julius Ruto recalled the bishop’s strong biblical teachings and personal mentorship, saying they left a lasting impact on his life.

“I join the IVC Church fraternity, friends, and the people of Eldoret in mourning a devoted servant of God whose life was marked by faith, humility, and steadfast biblical teaching,” said MP Ruto. “I had the privilege of knowing Bishop Likavo from 2001. His mentorship, especially during lunch-hour fellowships at Mt. View Hotel in Eldoret, grounded our faith and sharpened our values. His legacy will continue to bear fruit.”

Presidential candidate Dr Reuben Kigame described Bishop Likavo as a brother and friend, drawing comfort from scripture.

“It is extremely difficult to accept that my brother and friend, Bishop Joseph Likavo, is gone,” Dr Kigame said. Quoting John 11:25, he added, “‘I am the resurrection and the life.’ Farewell Bishop. I will miss your friendship, brotherly advice, and visionary leadership for the church and the country.”

Huruma Ward MCA aspirant Maina Wachira also paid tribute, expressing shock at the sudden demise of the bishop.

“I have lost a friend, a father, and a role model,” Wachira said. “May the Good Lord comfort the family, friends, neighbours, workmates, and the church at large during this trying moment. It is well. R.I.P Papa. Mungu mbele.”

As condolence messages continue to pour in, leaders and faithful across Uasin Gishu County have called for unity in prayer, remembering Bishop Likavo as a man of faith, humility, and unwavering service whose legacy will live on through the many lives he touched.
