Bishop Joseph Likavo Dies! Presidential Aspirant Reuben Kigame Eulogizes Him
Presidential aspirant Dr Reuben Kigame has joined the Christian community and the nation in mourning the death of Bishop Joseph Likavo, the founder and leader of International Vision Centre, describing him as a brother, friend, and a visionary servant of God whose impact will be felt for generations.
In an emotional tribute, Dr Kigame said the passing of Bishop Likavo was “extremely difficult to accept,” noting that the late bishop had been more than a fellow minister of the Gospel to him.
“It is extremely difficult to accept that my brother and friend, Bishop Joseph Likavo of International Vision Centre, is gone,” Dr Kigame said. “I will deeply miss his friendship, brotherly advice, and visionary leadership for both the Church and our country.”
Seeking to encourage the bereaved family and congregation, Dr Kigame shared a message of hope drawn from Scripture, reflecting on the Christian promise of resurrection and eternal life.
“The only consolation that gives me strength and hope, and what I wish to share with his family, is found in John 11:25, where Jesus speaks to the grieving family of Mary and Martha,” he said.
‘I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live.’
Dr Kigame noted that Bishop Likavo’s life was marked by unwavering faith, pastoral compassion, and a clear vision for spiritual and national transformation. He said the bishop’s leadership at International Vision Centre inspired many to live purpose-driven lives anchored in faith, integrity, and service.
As he concluded his tribute, Dr Kigame offered a heartfelt farewell to his departed friend.
“Farewell, Bishop Joseph Likavo. Your race was run with faith and courage. You may be gone from our sight, but your legacy of leadership, hope, and love will live on.”
Bishop Likavo’s death has drawn tributes from church leaders, congregants, and public figures, many of whom remember him as a devoted shepherd and a unifying voice in the body of Christ.
