Eldoret National Polytechnic Chief Principal Joins Africa–Europe TVET Forum in Kigali
Dr. Charles Koech, OGW, the Chief Principal of The Eldoret National Polytechnic, was among distinguished education leaders who participated in high-level panel discussions at the PRO-S Africa–Europe Skills Forum held in Kigali, Rwanda.
The forum, funded by the European Commission, brought together policymakers, technical and vocational education and training (TVET) experts, and industry stakeholders to advance sustainability and innovation in Agricultural TVET through strengthened cross-sectoral collaboration.
Dr. Koech contributed to two key panel sessions: “The Role of TVET in Sustainable Development” and “Building Bridges between Africa and Europe in TVET Cooperation.” His interventions highlighted the importance of skills development in boosting youth employability, fostering green innovation, and supporting economic growth across the continent. He also emphasized the value of international partnerships in enhancing the quality and relevance of TVET training.
The initiative involves a consortium of collaborating countries: Hungary, Slovakia, and Poland from Europe, and Rwanda, Kenya, and Namibia from Africa. The partnership aims to promote knowledge exchange, develop modern training approaches, and support institutions in adopting sustainable and innovative agricultural practices.
As part of the program, delegates visited EFA Nyagahanga, a Technical Secondary School located in Gatsibo District in Northern Rwanda. The visit offered participants firsthand insights into Rwanda’s efforts to strengthen technical education at the secondary level and showcased ongoing projects designed to prepare learners for careers in agriculture and related industries.
The PRO-S Africa–Europe Skills Forum continues to position TVET as a transformative driver for sustainable development, with leaders like Dr. Koech playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of skills training across continents.
