Nandi Governor Stephen Sang Reaffirms Commitment to Public Financial Management Reforms

Nandi Governor Stephen Sang has reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening financial governance and accountability through the ongoing Public Financial Management (PFM) Reforms Strategy 2023–2028.

Speaking after hosting a delegation from the National Treasury and Economic Planning Department, Governor Sang said the reforms are critical in ensuring that public resources are used transparently, efficiently, and responsibly to drive sustainable growth and improve service delivery for citizens.

“This week, we had the privilege of welcoming officials from the Treasury and Economic Planning Department, who are in Nandi to conduct the annual monitoring, evaluation, and dissemination of the PFM Reforms Strategy. Together, we are working to build stronger systems that guarantee fiscal discipline, good governance, and improved services for our people,” Governor Sang stated.

He emphasized that the reforms provide a framework for counties to manage resources prudently while enhancing accountability and transparency in financial operations. “Our ultimate goal is to ensure that every shilling allocated to Nandi works for the people—whether in healthcare, education, agriculture, or infrastructure,” he added.

The governor noted that by aligning county financial management practices with national standards, Nandi is positioning itself as a model of fiscal responsibility and a champion of good governance.

The PFM Reforms Strategy (2023–2028) seeks to strengthen planning, budgeting, procurement, and auditing processes across both national and county governments to enhance service delivery and economic transformation.
