Nadia Cherono Shares Heartwarming Moment with President Ruto at State House Chapel
In a touching moment that captured the bond between a father and daughter, Nadia Cherono Ruto, the adopted daughter of President William Ruto, joined him for a Sunday church service at the State House Chapel in Nairobi today.
Nadia, who was adopted by the President in 2015 after a heartbreaking start to life, stood gracefully beside her father during the morning service that brought together senior government officials, clergy, and family members for worship and thanksgiving.
Born in Machakos and abandoned by her biological mother just a day after birth, Nadia’s life took a dramatic turn when she was taken in by Catholic sisters at Madre Ippolita Children's Home in Machakos County. Her fate changed forever when her story touched the heart of then-Deputy President William Ruto during a fundraiser. Moved by her courage and resilience, Ruto adopted her, naming her "Cherono" after his own late mother, Mama Sarah Cherono Cheruiyot.
Since then, Nadia has been a quiet but significant presence in the life of the now-President. Often seen by his side at public events and state functions, she has grown into a poised and confident young woman, accompanying her father on both local and international engagements.
Their bond was most recently seen in 2024 when Nadia joined President Ruto on a three-day state visit to Ghana, just days after attending the WRC Safari Rally in Naivasha with him. Observers noted the strength of their relationship, with Nadia often holding her father's hand or walking beside him, a symbol of the deep connection they share.
Today’s service at the State House Chapel was no different. Dressed in a simple yet elegant outfit, Nadia stood next to her father throughout the service, sharing smiles and soft words that revealed the closeness of their relationship. The President, known for his devotion to family and faith, looked visibly proud as he stood with his daughter in prayer.
