CS Kipchumba Murkomen Visits Murang’a Governor in Push for Stronger Security, Land Reforms
In a continued effort to enhance national security and foster intergovernmental collaboration, Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration, Hon. Kipchumba Murkomen, today paid a courtesy call on Murang’a Governor Dr. Irungu Kang’ata as part of the ongoing Jukwaa La Usalama tour of the county.
The visit underscored the importance of synergy between the national and county governments in addressing pressing local security challenges and long-standing land issues affecting residents.
“Our discussions were candid and focused on the shared responsibility we have in combating the proliferation of illicit brews, which continue to pose a serious threat to public health and social stability,” said CS Murkomen.
He further commended the Murang’a County Government for its proactive stance in enforcing liquor regulations and supporting community policing initiatives. “We are committed to strengthening enforcement mechanisms and enhancing community engagement to disrupt the supply chains of these dangerous substances,” he added.
Land matters also featured prominently in the meeting, with both leaders agreeing on the urgent need to resolve land disputes and streamline title processing. CS Murkomen emphasized the importance of secure land tenure in promoting social harmony and economic development.
“We recognize that unresolved land issues can be a catalyst for conflict and insecurity. As such, we are working closely with county leadership and the Ministry of Lands to ensure that historical injustices are addressed and land rights are protected,” he stated.
The Jukwaa La Usalama platform, initiated by the Ministry of Interior, seeks to create open dialogue between security agencies, local leadership, and citizens across the country to build safer communities and deepen trust in law enforcement.
Governor Kang’ata expressed his support for the initiative, noting that collaboration with the national government is essential for sustainable peace and development in Murang’a.
