President Ruto Urges Opposition to Focus on Development, Not Division

President William Ruto has called on the Opposition to focus on presenting constructive development agendas to Kenyans instead of inciting lawlessness, hate, and tribal divisions.

Speaking during the 9th Edition of the Kaptagat Integrated Conservation Programme in Simotwo, Elgeyo Marakwet County, the President warned against political leaders who, he said, were using the country’s youth to revive their failing political careers.

“We will stand firm against those selfish leaders who exploit our youth to rescue their dwindling political careers. Kenya belongs to all of us, and we must reject politics rooted in hate and division,” President Ruto declared.

He emphasized the need for national unity and urged all leaders—regardless of political affiliation—to support the government's development and environmental conservation initiatives.

The President also expressed satisfaction with the progress of the national tree-planting campaign, noting that the country remains on track to plant 15 billion trees by the year 2032.

“I’m glad we are on course to planting 15 billion trees by 2032. This effort is not just about climate action—it’s about protecting our environment and improving livelihoods,” he said.

The Kaptagat Integrated Conservation Programme is a flagship environmental initiative aimed at restoring degraded ecosystems in the North Rift region through large-scale tree planting and community participation.
