One Arrested as Police Intensify War on Drugs in Kericho
Police officers in Kericho have stepped up their fight against drug trafficking, following the arrest of a suspected drug peddler during a targeted operation in the Slaughterhouse area of Kipsitet Centre, Soin Sub-County.
The raid, which was conducted on July 5, 2025, was led by the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) of Kipsitet Police Station. Acting on intelligence reports, officers stormed a known drug den and apprehended a male suspect from Kaptalamwa Village.
Authorities confirmed that the suspect was found in possession of 138 rolls of cannabis (commonly known as bhang). He is currently in custody and is expected to be processed and arraigned in court in the coming days.
The National Police Service (NPS) has reiterated its commitment to tackling the scourge of narcotics and illicit substances across the country. In a statement, the NPS assured the public that similar operations will continue as part of a broader crackdown on drug trafficking, illegal brews, and other criminal activities.
Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behavior to local authorities as part of the ongoing nationwide effort to safeguard communities.
