Konza Technopolis CEO John Paul Okwiri Champions Conservation Technology at #GCTDF2026
The Chief Executive Officer of Konza Technopolis, John Paul Okwiri, has reaffirmed Kenya’s growing leadership in innovation and sustainability by backing the Global Conservation Technology and Data Forum 2026 (#GCTDF2026), positioning the smart city as a catalyst for Africa’s conservation technology transformation.
Set to take place in 2–6 March 2026 across Nairobi and Konza, the forum will convene more than 150 international conservation and technology partners, 100 conservation organisations from across Africa, and 100 young leaders under the age of 25 who are pioneering the continent’s next generation of environmental innovation.
Okwiri emphasized that Konza is more than just a venue for the high-level gathering. Instead, he described it as a living laboratory where conservation meets advanced technology — integrating data analytics, artificial intelligence, drone technology, and connected systems into practical, scalable solutions.
“This is where infrastructure meets implementation, where policy meets pilots, and where innovation transitions from concept to deployment,” Okwiri noted, underscoring Konza’s strategic role in bridging research, regulation, and real-world environmental solutions.
Under his leadership, Konza Technopolis has continued to strengthen Kenya’s position as a continental hub for smart infrastructure, digital transformation, and applied innovation. The CEO’s commitment to aligning technology ecosystems with sustainability goals reflects a broader national push to harness innovation in addressing climate change, biodiversity protection, and resource management challenges.
The Global Conservation Technology and Data Forum 2026 is expected to accelerate collaboration between governments, conservation agencies, tech developers, investors, and youth innovators — creating a cross-sector platform designed to scale Africa-led solutions to global environmental challenges.
As Kenya advances its smart city ambitions, Konza’s active participation in #GCTDF2026 signals a strategic shift from infrastructure development alone toward impact-driven implementation that blends technology, policy, and sustainable development outcomes.
