Motorists across Kenya will have to dig deeper into their pockets for super petrol, following the latest monthly review by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA). The price of super petrol has increased by KSh 2.69 per litre, while prices for diesel and kerosene have decreased by KSh 1.95 and KSh 2.06 per litre respectively.
The new prices take effect from June 15 to July 14, 2025.
According to EPRA, the increase in super petrol prices is attributed to a 0.35% rise in the average landed cost, which climbed from US$588.16 to US$590.24 per cubic metre. In contrast, the landed costs for diesel and kerosene declined, contributing to the slight price reductions for those fuels.
The authority also noted that the government subsidy on super petrol has been reduced, resulting in reduced consumer cushioning.
“This pricing reflects current trends in the global oil market and is carried out in accordance with the Petroleum Act, 2019 and relevant legal notices,” EPRA said in a statement.
The agency further explained that monthly fuel prices are influenced by a range of factors, including international oil prices, exchange rate fluctuations, and domestic tax policies. EPRA has urged consumers to prepare for potential monthly adjustments based on these dynamics.
The next price review is scheduled for mid-July 2025.
