The Speaker of the National Assembly, the Rt. Hon. Moses Wetang’ula, has joined Kenyans in mourning the passing of Ambassador Boaz Mbaya, a revered diplomat and statesman who dedicated his life to public service and the advancement of Kenya’s foreign relations.
In a moving tribute, Speaker Wetang’ula described Amb. Mbaya as “a highly respected and distinguished public servant who served our nation with unwavering dedication and integrity.”
Reflecting on their interactions during his time at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Speaker acknowledged the diplomat’s profound influence on Kenya’s foreign policy:
“During my tenure at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, I engaged with Amb. Mbaya on numerous matters of diplomacy and international cooperation. His clarity of thought, depth of insight, and principled approach left a lasting impression on all who had the honour of working with him.”
Amb. Mbaya authored Kenya’s Foreign Policy and Diplomacy, a landmark work widely regarded as a foundational text in understanding Kenya’s diplomatic evolution.
“His seminal work remains a cornerstone in understanding the evolution of our nation’s diplomatic posture and strategic interests,” said Wetang’ula. “It continues to be an invaluable reference for practitioners, policymakers, and scholars alike.”
The Speaker conveyed heartfelt condolences to the late ambassador’s family:
“My thoughts and heartfelt condolences go out to his beloved spouse, Mrs. Florence Mbaya, and the entire family during this deeply painful time.”
