CS Alice Wahome Commends Kiambu Lands Registry, Calls for Accountability and Speedy Digitization

By John Kariuki

Lands, Public Works, Housing, and Urban Development Cabinet Secretary Alice Muthoni Wahome made an impromptu visit to the Kiambu Lands Registry today to assess its condition and the quality of services provided to the public.

Speaking after the visit, CS Wahome emphasized the strategic importance of Kiambu County, noting its close proximity to the capital city and its potential to lead nationally in revenue collection and service delivery. She stressed that every loophole that facilitates the loss of public funds must be firmly sealed.

Accountability is not optional. Every coin we safeguard strengthens our ability to offer better, faster, and more transparent services to Kenyans, she said.

CS Wahome reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the ongoing digitization of land registries across the country, pointing out that Kiambu is taking a leading role in this transformation. She noted that digitization goes beyond simply introducing technology. It is about eliminating manual inefficiencies, curbing fraud, securing land records, and enhancing public access to services.

Digitization is a critical step in improving the integrity of our land systems. It will help us rebuild public trust and ensure that the management of land records is transparent, accessible, and tamper proof, she said.

The Cabinet Secretary emphasized that the government is not just focused on reforming systems but is also keen on walking the journey with the people, ensuring that no citizen is left behind in the process.

Her visit comes at a time when the Ministry is fast tracking land reforms to improve service delivery, enhance accountability, and ensure that the digitization process effectively transforms how land services are accessed and managed across the country.

CS Wahome's message was clear. Restoring trust and safeguarding public resources is a collective responsibility, and the digitization of land registries is a major step toward achieving this goal.
