Police Recover Stolen Livestock After Swift Operation in Samburu County

A coordinated security operation by the National Police Service has led to the successful recovery of stolen livestock following a bandit attack in the Kabache area of Mutuati Sub-County on June 10.

According to police reports, armed bandits raided a homestead and made away with 15 cows and 30 goats. The theft triggered an immediate response by security officers, who launched a well-planned pursuit to track down the suspects.

The operation culminated in Kamanga area of Samburu East Sub-County, where the police intercepted and overpowered the bandits. All stolen animals were recovered and are currently in safe custody, awaiting handover to their rightful owners.

In a statement, the National Police Service commended the officers involved in the operation for their swift and professional action, and thanked local residents for their support.

“We recognize and appreciate the quick response and bravery of our officers, and the vigilance of the local community. Their cooperation was instrumental in ensuring the recovery of the livestock and the disruption of criminal activities in the region,” the statement read.

Livestock theft and banditry have long been a persistent security challenge in Northern Kenya. However, enhanced coordination between local communities and law enforcement has led to a series of recent successes in recovering stolen animals and curbing violence.

Authorities have reiterated their commitment to intensifying surveillance and security patrols in hotspot areas to deter further incidents.

The National Police Service urged members of the public to continue reporting suspicious activity and work closely with security agencies to safeguard livelihoods and ensure lasting peace in the region.
