The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a fresh weather advisory warning of continued rainfall in various parts of the country from Tuesday, June 10, through Saturday, June 14.
According to the latest forecast, regions in the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, and the Coast are expected to receive moderate to heavy rainfall over the five-day period.
Counties such as Nairobi, Kiambu, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka are forecast to experience cloudy mornings with sunny intervals between Wednesday and Friday. The Met Department noted that these areas could see rainfall on Tuesday and Saturday afternoons.
"Nights will remain partly cloudy, with a possibility of light showers in isolated areas on Wednesday night," the update read. Daytime temperatures in these regions will range between 6°C and 27°C. The public has been urged to dress warmly, particularly during the morning and evening hours.
In the Eastern and Southeastern lowlands—including Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta—residents can expect cloudy mornings followed by hot, sunny afternoons. Daytime temperatures could soar to 32°C, with nighttime lows dropping to around 12°C. Similar conditions are anticipated in the inland areas of Tana River County.
The Meteorological Department has also issued a caution to motorists and pedestrians, highlighting potential risks such as flooding and slippery roads, particularly in towns and flood-prone, low-lying areas.
“People should remain vigilant and follow official weather updates. The rains may persist beyond the forecast period, and those living in vulnerable areas must take necessary precautions,” the statement emphasized.
The department reiterated the importance of staying updated through trusted channels and observing safety measures, especially as heavy rains continue to affect daily life across the country.
