Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has pledged comprehensive support to the family of the late teacher and blogger Albert Ojwang Omondi, following a heartfelt meeting with his bereaved loved ones.
The governor hosted Ojwang’s family—including his parents, widow, and three-year-old son, George Miles—where he offered his deepest condolences and honored the memory of a man he described as both a close colleague and personal friend.
“I have known Albert for a long time. If you go through his Facebook and Twitter, you’ll see he was not only a teacher and a blogger, but also a personal influencer,” Sakaja said. “We will walk with his family on this journey.”
During the emotional meeting, Governor Sakaja made a series of significant pledges. He committed to cover all burial expenses, and further announced he would sponsor the education of Ojwang’s young son, ensuring George Miles has access to quality schooling. In addition, he promised to clear the outstanding college tuition for Ojwang’s widow, who is currently pursuing a diploma in community health.
“Upon completing her training as a health worker, we shall ensure she gets a job in the county. She is currently in her final semester,” Sakaja said.
In a show of compassion and long-term support, the governor also extended his help to Ojwang’s elderly parents. He pledged to purchase land in Homa Bay County and construct rental units to provide them with a sustainable source of income.
The touching tribute and the governor’s promises have been widely praised as a humane and responsible gesture, reflecting both a personal loss and a public commitment to family and community welfare.
Albert Ojwang Omondi was a well-known digital content creator and educator, remembered by friends and followers for his impactful social media presence and passion for public service.
