Uasin Gishu Strengthens Ties with Agricultural Society of Kenya to Boost Smart Farming

Uasin Gishu County is intensifying its commitment to agricultural transformation through strengthened collaboration with the Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK), a long-standing partner in promoting innovation and skills transfer among farmers and agri-based institutions.

Speaking after hosting ASK representatives in his office, Deputy Governor Evans Kapkea lauded the Society for its continued role in empowering farmers with cutting-edge techniques and technologies through platforms such as the annual Eldoret National Show.

"The Agricultural Society of Kenya continues to be a valuable partner, providing a platform for our farmers and institutions to acquire the latest skills and innovations in smart agriculture," said Kapkea.

The meeting served as a reflection on the successes of the recent ASK show, which drew thousands of participants and exhibitors from across the country. It also marked a pivotal moment in strategizing the implementation of ASK’s master plan—a comprehensive roadmap that aligns closely with Uasin Gishu County’s agricultural development blueprint.

“We remain committed to collaborating with all institutions as we work to unlock the full potential of our agriculture-rich region,” Kapkea affirmed. “This partnership is critical as we scale up climate-smart agriculture, agribusiness value chains, and youth engagement in the sector.”

The Deputy Governor emphasized the county's readiness to support initiatives that bridge research, innovation, and practice, ensuring local farmers are equipped to compete in regional and global markets.

The rollout of the ASK master plan is expected to further strengthen agricultural extension services, promote sustainable practices, and enhance productivity across the county.
