A Nairobi County government officer tragically lost his life on Saturday after falling from the sixth floor of City Hall Annex in the heart of the city. The officer, commonly referred to as a “Kanjo,” was in full county uniform when the incident occurred, prompting immediate emergency response and widespread shock at the county headquarters.
Police and emergency responders arrived swiftly at the scene following the fall. Central Police Division Commander Stephen Okal confirmed the officer sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was subsequently transferred to Nairobi Funeral Home as investigations got underway.
Eyewitnesses described a harrowing scene. “We heard a loud thud, and when we rushed outside, we saw the officer lying motionless on the ground,” said one onlooker. Another witness added, “It was shocking; no one expected such a tragedy here at City Hall.”
Commander Okal emphasized the seriousness of the investigation. “We are investigating all possibilities to determine what led to this unfortunate incident. We urge the public to allow the process to unfold without speculation,” he stated.
Authorities are currently piecing together the events that led to the fatal fall and are appealing to anyone with information to come forward. While the cause remains unclear—whether accidental, foul play, or otherwise—police are treating the matter with utmost urgency.
The tragic death has raised immediate concerns about safety measures within Nairobi County buildings, especially in high-traffic government facilities. City officials are expected to review existing security and occupational safety protocols in light of the incident.
