In a vibrant display of empowerment and promise, Kilifi Deputy Governor Flora Mbetsa Chibule graced the Gede Vocational Training Centre (VTC) graduation ceremony in Dabaso Ward where she lauded the resilience and raw talent of the county’s youth.
Addressing the sea of jubilant graduates, Chibule described vocational training as “a cornerstone of sustainable development” emphasizing its potential to slash unemployment rates and spark innovation at the grassroots. “To the graduates,” she declared with pride, “go out, build, and innovate. Your time is now.”
But the day was not just about caps and gowns. Chibule’s agenda was twofold, celebrating educational milestones and fueling economic empowerment. She later led the launch of a transformative livestock farming initiative under the Kenya Marine Fisheries and Socio-Economic Development (KEMFSED) Project aimed at enhancing food security and household income in Kilifi County.
The initiative targets 644 households carefully selected for their commitment to community-driven progress. Among the beneficiaries is the enterprising Mkaa Moto Team Nguvu recognized for their unwavering dedication to self-reliance and rural prosperity.
“Take good care of these livestock,” Chibule urged the beneficiaries. “They are not just animals. They are stepping stones to better lives, thriving families, and a stronger Kilifi.”
She was joined by a high-powered delegation including the CECM and Chief Officer for Blue Economy, the area MCA, and project officials, all unified in purpose to reinforce the county government’s pledge to support self-help groups through resource provision, hands-on training, and consistent monitoring to ensure long-term impact.
From classroom triumphs to field-based transformation, Kilifi County is planting the seeds of resilience, and Deputy Governor Chibule is right at the heart of it.
