Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi has joined Emgwen MP Josses Lelmengit in mourning the brutal killing of Catholic priest Allois Cheruiyot Bett, who was slain by unknown assailants in Kilibwoni Ward, Nandi County.
Speaking during a condolence visit to the late priest's family in Cheplasgei village, Sudi condemned the murder in the strongest terms, describing Father Bett as a “steadfast peace advocate and devoted spiritual leader whose life was cruelly cut short by criminals.”
“Father Bett stood for unity and peace. His commitment to serving both God and the community was unwavering. His loss is not just for the Catholic Church, but for all of us who believed in his message of peace and reconciliation,” Sudi said.
The lawmaker assured the bereaved family and the public that the government will pursue justice for the slain cleric. “Those behind this heinous act will surely be found and face the full wrath of the law. We will not allow such evil to go unpunished,” he stated.
Sudi called on security agencies to expedite investigations and bring the perpetrators to book, adding that the community must remain vigilant and united against rising insecurity.
Father Allois Bett was widely respected across Nandi County for his role in promoting peaceful coexistence and offering spiritual guidance. His untimely death has sparked outrage and grief among residents and the broader faith community.
Funeral arrangements are underway as investigations continue.
