Eliud Owalo Mourns the Death of Hon. Charles Ong’ondo Were, Calls for Swift Justice

 



Deputy Chief of Staff in the Executive Office of the President in Charge of Performance Management and Delivery, Mr. Eliud Owalo, has expressed deep sorrow following the tragic death of Hon. Charles Ong’ondo Were, the Member of Parliament for Kasipul, whose untimely demise has shocked the nation.

In a heartfelt condolence message, Mr. Owalo described the late legislator as a longtime friend, recalling their bond which began during Hon. Were’s earlier career as a businessman in Meru County, long before he ventured into politics.

“I am deeply shocked and saddened by the untimely demise of my friend, Hon. Charles Ong’ondo Were,” Mr. Owalo stated. “On behalf of my family and myself, I extend heartfelt condolences to his wife, children, relatives, friends, and colleagues. I also express sincere sympathies to the people of Kasipul, who have lost a devoted, diligent, and principled leader who tirelessly championed their interests.”

Mr. Owalo called on security agencies to expedite investigations into the killing, urging authorities to pursue justice with speed and ensure those behind the tragic act are held accountable.

His message comes amid mounting public grief and growing calls for clarity surrounding the circumstances of the MP’s death, which has cast a pall over the Kasipul constituency and the national political landscape.

“May his soul rest in eternal peace,” Mr. Owalo concluded.

The late Hon. Were was widely respected for his commitment to service and advocacy for the welfare of his constituents. His death marks a significant loss to the leadership of Homa Bay County and the country at large.
