Roads to Be Affected by Traffic Diversions in Eldoret as City Prepares for Celebrations
Motorists in Eldoret have been urged to prepare for traffic diversions ahead of the 2026 Mashujaa Day celebrations scheduled for Tuesday, October 20, at Kipchoge Keino Stadium.
Rift Valley Regional Commissioner Dr Abdi Hassan said alternative routes, including the Southern Bypass and roads through Kapsaret, Rivertex, Kipkaren, West Indies and Jerusalem, will be used to manage traffic and minimise congestion.
Speaking on Monday, Dr Hassan said traffic signs had been installed along designated routes, with traffic police officers set to guide motorists at diversion points.
He urged drivers and members of the public to cooperate with security personnel and follow official traffic instructions to ensure smooth movement during the national celebrations.
Several parking areas have also been designated for visitors, including Eldoret GK Primary and Secondary Schools, the GK Affordable Housing site, Dolla Parking, Moi Girls, Railway City Parking Areas 1 and 2, Queen of Angels School and Eldoret Police Lines.
Dr Hassan said the arrangements were part of broader measures to ensure the safe and orderly movement of thousands of visitors expected in Eldoret for the event.
Motorists have been advised to plan their journeys early, follow the designated diversions and use the approved parking areas as Eldoret prepares to host the national celebrations presided over by President William Ruto.
