Eldoret National Polytechnic Elects New Student Leaders for 2025

 The atmosphere at Eldoret National Polytechnic was electric as hundreds of students gathered at the Student Center on Thursday evening to witness the official announcement of the 2025 student election results. The highly anticipated moment was presided over by the Dean of Students, Mr. Reuben Chemitei, and the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), who oversaw a transparent and peaceful election process.

Students, aspirants, and their supporters filled the center, eyes fixed on the red-carpeted podium where results were to be read out. The tallying process had just concluded, and tension gripped the crowd as the election agents handed in the final vote counts.

In a keenly contested race, Kipchirchir Darius was declared the new Student President, with Dan Wakoli as his Vice President. The duo clinched the top leadership with a commanding 1,972 votes, promising to bring transformative change to the student body.

Meanwhile, Ochieng Isaiah secured the position of Governor for Town Campus, alongside his Deputy Leonard Kiptoo, after collecting 1,978 votes. Their win marked a significant endorsement from the student electorate.

For the position of Secretary General, Castro Omondi emerged victorious with 1,139 votes, surpassing his closest challenger Kennedy Kipkemoi, who garnered 860 votes.

Among the most tightly contested roles was that of Cabinet Secretary for Finance, where Purity Chebet claimed victory with 1,978 votes. Nick Otieno was elected as Cabinet Secretary for Education with 1,951 votes, solidifying his place in the new cabinet.



The election also witnessed a vibrant contest in the Female Representative category. Meresa Akoth edged out Hilda Jepchumba with 1,093 votes against 947, promising to champion gender equality and inclusivity.

In matters of sports and culture, Cleophus Baritinga defeated Dominic Wekesa to become Cabinet Secretary for Sports, Recreation and Cultural Affairs, winning with 1,123 votes to Wekesa’s 892.

Healthcare and wellness at the institution will now be overseen by Julient Mokeira, who triumphed in the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Management race with 1,291 votes, leaving Maneno Mandela trailing with 692 votes.

One of the most historic wins came in the Cabinet Secretary for Catering and Accommodation category, where Sally Odhiambo, a journalism student, made headlines as the first from her department to secure a cabinet seat. She won with 1,273 votes, defeating Njuki Denis, who earned 604 votes.

Lastly, the position of Representative for People Living with Disabilities was filled unopposed by John James Atieno, highlighting both his popularity and the students' commitment to inclusivity.

As preparations begin for the official swearing-in ceremony scheduled for Friday, optimism is running high across campus. Students are hopeful that this new crop of leaders will usher in a dynamic era marked by transparency, innovation, and unity.

The 2025 student leadership at Eldoret National Polytechnic now carries the hopes and expectations of a vibrant student body eager for meaningful progress and representation.
