Former Woman Representative aspirant Cate Kirui has kicked off an ambitious youth engagement initiative, beginning with a high-impact seminar that brought together over 1,000 young people from across Uasin Gishu County. The transformative forum tackled some of the most pressing personal and social issues affecting the region’s youth today.
Held under the banner of "Purpose, Responsibility, and Progress," the seminar addressed a wide range of life-critical topics, including:
-
Sexuality and Responsibility
-
Personal Discipline and Positivity
-
Self-Realization, Respect, and Honor of God
-
Agripreneurship and Self-Employment
-
Environmental Conservation and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Awareness
In her remarks, Cate Kirui described the session as “raw, real, and revealing,” noting the courage with which the youth shared their stories, asked difficult questions, and engaged in solution-driven dialogue.
“The youth of Uasin Gishu are not just the future—they are the now,” Kirui said. “Through open conversations and shared experiences, we built understanding and reignited hope.”
The seminar marks the first of 50 youth-focused forums Kirui has pledged to conduct across the county, in a long-term commitment to empower, mentor, and equip young people to become responsible and self-driven leaders.
“This is just the beginning,” she added. “Our mission is to raise a generation that respects themselves, honors God, protects the environment, and builds livelihoods with dignity and resilience.”
The initiative is being lauded by educators, parents, and county leaders as a model of proactive grassroots youth engagement at a time when young people face growing economic and social pressures.
Kirui, who continues to be a vocal advocate for youth empowerment and community development, urged stakeholders at all levels to support youth initiatives that promote character, creativity, and civic responsibility.
