The Uasin Gishu County Solicitor, Wakili Boaz Bulbul, today paid a courtesy call to the Eldoret National Polytechnic (TENP) as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration between the county government and the institution. The visit comes at the start of a new semester and signals renewed commitment to joint programs aimed at advancing technical and vocational training in the region.
Mr. Bulbul was warmly received by Mr. Paul Seurey, Deputy Principal Administration at TENP, along with members of the institution’s Senior Management Team (SMT). Discussions during the meeting centered on deepening the existing partnership, particularly through the Dual Training Program which integrates classroom instruction with hands-on training at County Government facilities.
The County Solicitor delivered a goodwill message from Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii Chelilim, congratulating TENP on the start of a new academic term and reiterating the administration’s dedication to strengthening the county’s human capital through technical and vocational education.
“Our partnership with Eldoret National Polytechnic is not only strategic but necessary. We are committed to fully implementing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed earlier this year, especially in areas such as health sciences, which are critical to service delivery,” said Mr. Bulbul.
Key focus areas of the discussions included the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), the Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) framework, and the retooling of county TVET trainers. These initiatives are aimed at equipping county staff and trainers with up-to-date skills and aligning training with current industry and public service demands. TENP’s Master Trainers are expected to play a central role in this capacity-building process.
The Eldoret National Polytechnic administration expressed gratitude for the County Government’s ongoing support and reaffirmed its commitment to the shared goal of improving skills development across Uasin Gishu.
“We value the partnership with the County Government. It has opened doors for innovation, practical exposure for our students, and opportunities for trainer development. We look forward to expanding these initiatives further,” said Mr. Seurey.
The visit underscores the County Government’s broader agenda of promoting education, training, and employment by working closely with institutions of higher learning to prepare a skilled and employable workforce for both the public and private sectors.
