Natembeya Accuses Senator Chesang of Tribal Politics Amid Employment Allegations

Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has accused area Senator Allan Chesang of fueling tribal divisions and attempting to tarnish his reputation, even as it emerged that Chesang’s wife is allegedly employed by the county government.

In a bold statement made during a public event, Governor Natembeya lashed out at the senator, saying:
“Mchumba wake ni waziri wangu,” — implying that despite the senator’s public criticism, his own fiancĂ©e holds a senior position within the county government.

The governor further claimed that the senator has been instrumental in labeling him a tribalist, allegations he dismissed as baseless.
“Wakenya hawajui hiyo. Senator wangu ndiye anayefanya wengine waseme mimi ni mkabila,” Natembeya stated, suggesting that Chesang’s actions have misled the public and created unnecessary ethnic tension.

The remarks come amid growing political tensions in the county, with both leaders positioning themselves ahead of the next general elections. The allegations of nepotism and tribalism are expected to intensify scrutiny on the county's leadership and employment practices.

Senator Chesang has yet to respond publicly to the governor’s accusations.
