Willy Kenei Takes Grassroots Campaign to Kesses, Pledges People-Centred Leadership

Uasin Gishu gubernatorial aspirant Willy Kenei has intensified his grassroots engagements ahead of the 2027 General Election, with a visit to Ingwai in Tulwet/Chuiyat Ward, Kesses Constituency, where he met residents and members of the Remache Welfare Group.

Kenei said the engagement provided an opportunity to interact directly with residents, listen to their aspirations and discuss ways of strengthening grassroots initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods.

According to Kenei, sustainable development in Uasin Gishu should begin at the community level by empowering residents and supporting local initiatives capable of creating practical economic opportunities.

“It was a powerful opportunity to connect with the people, listen to their aspirations and stand with a community determined to improve livelihoods,” Kenei said.

He said his leadership agenda would focus on listening to residents, working together with communities and developing solutions that address challenges affecting people at the grassroots.

Kenei further said the county's transformation should be anchored on inclusive participation, economic empowerment and stronger community-based initiatives.

“My commitment is to champion leadership that listens, works with the people and delivers solutions that create real impact,” he said.

The latest engagement comes as Kenei continues to expand his grassroots outreach across Uasin Gishu as he seeks to position himself ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial contest. He formally declared his interest in the governorship earlier this year, joining a growing field of aspirants seeking to lead the county.

Kenei, who is also the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry Uasin Gishu Chapter chairman, has been presenting himself as a business-oriented candidate whose agenda includes economic transformation, investment, job creation, youth empowerment and improved service delivery.

He said his vision for Uasin Gishu can only be achieved through collaboration between leaders and residents.

“The journey towards a prosperous, inclusive and transformed Uasin Gishu starts at the grassroots, together, with the people,” Kenei said.

His campaign slogan, “Dawa ya Uasin Gishu,” has featured prominently in his recent community engagements as he continues to hold meetings with residents, professionals, youth groups and other stakeholders across the county.
