Lotee Joins Murkomen in Fresh Push to Strengthen Security in West Pokot
Kacheliba MP Hon. Titus Lotee was among West Pokot leaders who met Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen to discuss measures aimed at further strengthening security in the Kerio Valley region.
The meeting formed part of Murkomen’s ongoing consultations with leaders from the region as the Government intensifies efforts to consolidate security gains and address remaining security challenges.
Lotee’s participation underscored the importance of Kacheliba’s voice in discussions on security, administration and development affecting residents of the constituency.
Murkomen said intelligence-led operations to mop up illegal firearms are ongoing alongside community engagements targeting areas that continue to experience security challenges.
The CS said the Government had agreed with West Pokot leaders to train and deploy more National Police Reservists (NPRs) in areas facing security challenges.
Other measures include prioritising the operationalisation of administrative units, deploying additional police vehicles, realigning security installations to meet operational needs and redeploying officers who have overstayed in operational areas.
The Government will also convene a joint meeting involving leaders from Turkana County and the Ministry of Mining to address security concerns in mining areas.
Murkomen further said the Government would intensify national identification registration in underserved communities as part of efforts to improve access to essential government services and strengthen security coordination.
The meeting was attended by Public Works PS Joel Arumonyang, West Pokot Deputy Governor Robert Komolle, Senator Julius Murgor and Members of the National Assembly Peter Lochakapong of Sigor, Titus Lotee of Kacheliba, Samuel Moroto of Kapenguria and David Pkosing of Pokot South.
Also present were County Deputy Speaker Victor Siywat, Secretary of National Administration Moses Lilan and other government officials.
