Loima MP Names Alleged Financiers of Goonism in Turkana
By Saliamo Naibei
Loima Member of Parliament Dr Protus Akujah has accused several individuals of allegedly financing criminal activities and goonism in Turkana County, naming Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai and his son, Lavish, among those he claims are linked to the activities.
The legislator said Lodwar town was experiencing insecurity, alleging that some individuals were funding criminal gangs involved in intimidation, disrupting political meetings and other unlawful activities.
Speaking on the issue, Akujah claimed that the alleged financiers were known and called for accountability over their activities.
“Lodwar town has a lot of crime, and those financing it are known. The people funding goonism, petty crime and the disruption of other people's meetings are known,” Akujah said.
He further named an individual identified as Goodie, whom he described as Salama's son, among those he accused of financing the alleged activities.
“We will name them without fear or contradiction,” he said.
Akujah's remarks come amid concerns over political tensions and allegations of intimidation in Turkana County as the country approaches the 2027 General Election.
The MP warned that the situation could escalate if the alleged activities continued, saying those involved would eventually reach their “elastic limit.”
However, the allegations against the individuals named by the legislator remain unverified. No independent evidence has been presented in the account to substantiate the claims, and the individuals named have not been quoted responding to the accusations.
