Kamariny Primary School and Junior School Headteacher Barsulai Viola Jemutai has been ranked position one nationally in the National Honour Award category, earning recognition for her distinguished service and contribution to education and public service.

The award comes as Kenya joins the rest of the world in marking World Teachers’ Day 2026, celebrating teachers for their contribution to shaping learners and transforming communities.

According to the Certificate of Honour issued for World Teachers’ Day 2026, Barsulai was recognised for being ranked position one in the national honours award category, in acknowledgement of her distinguished service and contribution to education and public service.

The certificate notes that her recognition is linked to national honours received in 2025 and 2026, describing her contribution as exemplary and a testament to her dedication and excellence.

Barsulai, a teacher at Kamariny Primary School in Elgeyo Marakwet County, said the recognition was a major milestone not only for her but for the children and education community she serves.

“My voice for children has earned National recognition, a National Honour and Position One nationally,” Barsulai said while celebrating the achievement on World Teachers’ Day.

She described the award as “a collective victory. For every child,” and gave glory to God for the honour.

The certificate bears the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and UNESCO logos and is signed by Commission Chairman Dr Jamleck Muturi John, EBS, and Acting Commission Secretary/CEO Dr Evaleen J. Mitel, MBS.

The recognition places Barsulai among teachers whose dedication goes beyond classroom instruction to include advocacy for children, public service and efforts aimed at improving the education experience for learners.

As teachers are celebrated globally, her achievement provides another spotlight on educators working at the grassroots and their role in giving children a voice and creating opportunities for future generations.

For Barsulai, the national honour is not just a personal victory—it is a victory for every child she continues to serve.
