Former Kesses MP Mishra Chelule Proposes Free Wi-Fi in Churches, AI Technology in 2027 Manifesto

Former Kesses Member of Parliament Dr Mishra Kiprop Arap Chelule, CBS, has proposed introducing free Wi-Fi in churches across Kesses Constituency and promoting the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in religious institutions as part of his proposed 2027 manifesto.

Chelule says the proposals are aimed at bridging the digital divide, improving access to information and empowering churches through technology, innovation and connectivity.

In a manifesto statement shared on his official Facebook page, the former legislator outlined a plan that would see churches across Kesses Constituency benefit from free internet connectivity to support communication, online learning and access to digital resources.

Under the proposal, all churches within the constituency would be connected to free Wi-Fi, enabling religious institutions and their congregations to take advantage of digital platforms for educational, communication and information-sharing purposes.

The initiative is intended to strengthen the role of churches as community institutions by improving their access to modern technology and expanding opportunities for digital learning.

Chelule also proposed introducing Artificial Intelligence in churches beyond Kesses Constituency, highlighting the potential of emerging technologies to transform church administration, improve access to educational materials and support various ministry activities.

The proposed AI initiative would encourage religious institutions to explore how technology can be integrated into their daily operations, including administrative processes, information management and access to learning resources.

Artificial Intelligence is increasingly being adopted across different sectors to improve efficiency, support decision-making and expand access to information. In religious institutions, such technologies could potentially assist with administrative work, preparation of educational materials and management of digital content.

Through the proposal, Chelule is seeking to position technology as an important tool for empowering churches and expanding their capacity to serve their communities in an increasingly digital world.

His proposed vision places emphasis on digital connectivity and innovation, with churches viewed as important institutions that could benefit from improved access to internet services and modern technological solutions.

The free Wi-Fi proposal specifically targets churches within Kesses Constituency, while the AI component is envisioned to extend beyond the constituency, according to the manifesto statement.

The proposals come at a time when internet connectivity and digital technologies are becoming increasingly important in education, communication, business and public service delivery.

If implemented, the free Wi-Fi programme could provide churches with additional opportunities to access online educational resources, communicate with congregations through digital platforms and share information more efficiently.

The proposed AI integration could also open discussions on how religious institutions can responsibly adopt emerging technologies while maintaining their core spiritual and community responsibilities.

However, Chelule's proposals remain part of his proposed 2027 manifesto, and further details on the implementation framework, funding arrangements, participating churches and timelines have yet to be outlined.

The former MP's proposals add technology and digital transformation to the issues being presented to residents as political leaders prepare for the 2027 General Election.

His stated vision is to bridge the digital divide and empower churches through technology, innovation and connectivity, with the proposed initiatives seeking to expand the role of digital tools in religious institutions.

Whether the proposals will translate into a fully developed programme will depend on the implementation plans and resources that may be outlined in subsequent manifesto details.
