Eldoret National Polytechnic Chief Principal Dr Charles Koech Conferred National Heroes Award

Eldoret National Polytechnic Chief Principal Dr Charles Koech, OGW, has been conferred the National Heroes Award 2026 at Eldoret State Lodge during the Mashujaa Day celebrations held in Eldoret City, Uasin Gishu County.

The recognition marks a significant milestone for Dr Koech and the Eldoret National Polytechnic fraternity, highlighting his contribution to education and the advancement of technical and vocational training in Kenya.

The conferment took place as Eldoret hosted the national Mashujaa Day celebrations on October 20, 2026, bringing national attention to the region and recognising Kenyans whose service and contributions have made a difference in the country's development.

Dr Koech serves as Chief Principal of Eldoret National Polytechnic, an institution that plays an important role in equipping young people with practical skills, promoting innovation and supporting Kenya's industrial and economic growth.

His recognition also highlights the importance of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions in preparing a skilled workforce for sectors such as engineering, manufacturing, construction, agriculture and technology.

Under his leadership, Eldoret National Polytechnic continues to advance technical education, research, innovation and collaboration with industry stakeholders to improve training opportunities and equip learners with relevant skills.

The award comes at a time when the government and other stakeholders are emphasising the role of TVET in addressing unemployment, promoting entrepreneurship and supporting the country's development agenda.

The 63rd Mashujaa Day celebrations in Eldoret brought together President William Ruto, national and county leaders, invited guests and members of the public to honour individuals whose contributions have helped shape Kenya's history and progress.

For Eldoret National Polytechnic, Dr Koech's conferment represents a proud moment and brings further recognition to the institution and the wider TVET sector.

Congratulations to Dr Charles Koech, OGW, and the entire Eldoret National Polytechnic fraternity on this national honour.
