Natembeya Calls for Peaceful 2027 Elections: “Kenya Comes First”

Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has called on grassroots leaders to play a central role in promoting peace, unity and cohesion as Kenya approaches the 2027 General Election.

Natembeya spoke after serving as the Chief Guest at the Hon. Jack Wamboka Village Managers Empowerment Programme held in Bumula Constituency, Bungoma County.

The governor reminded village managers that they occupy a critical position in society as the closest link between government and the people, placing them in a strategic position to influence peace and stability at the grassroots.

He urged the village managers to use their leadership positions to promote unity, cohesion and harmony within their communities, particularly during the politically sensitive election period.

“Peaceful elections are built from the village level,” Natembeya said, calling on Kenyans to work together to protect their communities from political division and violence.

He said the country must strive to ensure that the next electoral process is free, fair, peaceful and credible, arguing that peaceful elections are essential to strengthening Kenya’s democracy and preserving national unity.

Natembeya cautioned against allowing political competition to overshadow the interests of the country, urging leaders and citizens to put national unity ahead of political ambitions.

“Our politics must never be greater than our country. Kenya comes first,” he said.

His remarks come as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 General Election, with leaders across the country increasingly calling for peaceful campaigns and responsible grassroots leadership.
