US Embassy Officials Pay Courtesy Call on Governor Bii, Seek Stronger Sports Cooperation

Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii has welcomed stronger cooperation between the County of Champions and the United States in key areas including health, education, agriculture and sports.

Bii spoke on Monday when US Embassy officials, led by Consul General Nathan Flook, paid him a courtesy call at his office, accompanied by representatives from Athletics Kenya.

The governor said the United States continues to emerge as a formidable partner to Uasin Gishu, noting that the county’s twinning arrangements with states in the US provide an important framework for strengthening people-to-people ties and expanding practical cooperation.

He said sports present a major opportunity for collaboration, given Uasin Gishu’s rich tradition of producing world-class athletes.

The discussions focused on deepening sports cooperation, nurturing talent at the grassroots and creating stronger pathways for athletes to develop, compete and excel internationally.

Bii said the partnership would play an important role in opening up more opportunities for young talent while further positioning Uasin Gishu as a leading centre for athletics development.
