Uasin Gishu Youth Mobilise for October Elections, Launch UDA Youth Wing

Uasin Gishu youth leaders have stepped up preparations for the National Youth Council elections scheduled for October, with more than 300 representatives from the county’s 30 wards meeting in Eldoret.

The meeting, hosted by Uasin Gishu Youth President Kelvin Kipleting at the UDA Party Office Annex, also culminated in the launch of the UDA Youth Wing in the county.

Kipleting said the youth leaders resolved to build a strong and organised youth platform capable of championing young people’s interests and increasing their participation in leadership and decision-making.

The leaders also called for greater youth involvement in the upcoming Mashujaa Day celebrations, with Uasin Gishu, Nandi and Elgeyo Marakwet set to host the national event.

Kipleting said young people should not only attend the celebrations but should also be directly involved in planning and benefit from opportunities arising from the event.

The youth leaders further agreed to mobilise young people across the region ahead of the 2027 General Election, with voter registration identified as a key priority.

Kipleting said Uasin Gishu still has more than 300,000 unregistered voters and announced plans for a countywide voter registration mobilisation campaign.

“The journey to 2027 starts now,” Kipleting said, urging young people to organise, register and participate in the democratic process.

He said the newly launched UDA Youth Wing would provide a structured platform for young leaders to mobilise and support programmes while advancing youth interests.

The meeting comes as political parties and youth groups intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
