Nandi Governor Stephen Sang has renewed his support for Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim’s bid for a second term, saying continuity in leadership is critical to completing ongoing development projects in the county.

Sang said retaining Bii would provide the stability needed to sustain and complete programmes already initiated by his administration, while allowing residents to benefit from long-term development plans.

The Nandi governor also threw his weight behind Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago’s re-election bid, urging him to put aside local political differences and focus on the wider political agenda ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Sang called on Mandago to join efforts aimed at securing President William Ruto’s re-election in 2027, arguing that leaders from the region should work together instead of allowing political differences to undermine broader development and political interests.

His remarks come as political realignments intensify across the Rift Valley ahead of the 2027 elections, with leaders increasingly positioning themselves around gubernatorial, senatorial and presidential contests.

Sang maintained that political unity among leaders from the region would be crucial in shaping the outcome of the next election, particularly in consolidating support for leaders seeking to retain their positions.

The governor’s endorsement of Bii also adds momentum to the Uasin Gishu gubernatorial contest, where the incumbent is expected to face political competition as he seeks to defend his seat.

Sang’s message was anchored on continuity, unity and the need for leaders to look beyond local political rivalries as Kenya heads towards another closely watched election.
