RVTTI Principal Joins Kenya TVET Delegation on Benchmarking Visit to South Korea

Rift Valley Technical Training Institute (RVTTI) Principal Madam Loice Kutoh joined senior stakeholders from Kenya’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector on a benchmarking study visit to the Republic of Korea aimed at strengthening skills development and industry linkages.

The delegation, led by TVET CDACC Chief Executive Officer Prof. Kisilu M. Kitainge, engaged key institutions in South Korea to gain insights into the country’s approach to competency-based education, industry-led training and workforce development.

During the visit, the Kenyan delegation held discussions with the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, exploring how strong collaboration between industry and training institutions has contributed to the development of a highly skilled workforce and supported economic growth.

The engagement provided an opportunity for Kenyan TVET stakeholders to examine approaches that can strengthen the connection between training programmes and the evolving needs of employers.

Madam Loice Kutoh was among the TVET leaders participating in the benchmarking exercise, representing RVTTI as the institution continues to focus on practical skills development, industry partnerships and preparing trainees for the modern labour market.

The delegation also paid a courtesy call to the Embassy of Kenya in Korea, where they were warmly received by Kenya’s Ambassador to Korea, H.E. Prof. Emmy Kipsoi.

Discussions at the embassy focused on strengthening Kenya-Korea cooperation in competency-based education and training, industry linkages and the preparation of a globally competitive workforce.

The visit offered Kenyan TVET stakeholders an opportunity to learn from South Korea’s experience in using skills development as part of its broader economic transformation.

The delegation is expected to bring home lessons from the engagements to support ongoing efforts to improve the quality and relevance of TVET programmes in Kenya.

The benchmarking exercise also highlights the importance of international collaboration in exposing TVET leaders and institutions to emerging practices in skills training, technology, industry engagement and workforce preparation.

For RVTTI, the participation of Madam Loice Kutoh in the international engagement further reflects the institution’s focus on strengthening partnerships and embracing approaches that can enhance the quality of training and improve opportunities for its trainees.

The Kenya-Korea engagements are expected to contribute to continued discussions on how industry and training institutions can work more closely together to produce graduates with practical competencies that respond to both national and global labour market demands.
