RVTTI Hosts GIZ, TVET Officials to Review Dual TVET Training Programme

Rift Valley Technical Training Institute (RVTTI) has hosted officials from the German development agency GIZ and the State Department for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to assess the progress of the Dual TVET Training Programme.

The visit brought together Madam Miranda Pendo from GIZ and Madam Peninah from the State Department for TVET, who engaged with the institute on the implementation and progress of the programme.

The assessment focused on reviewing the programme’s implementation, identifying areas that require strengthening and exploring ways of improving the delivery of practical and industry-oriented training.

Dual TVET training combines learning in an institution with practical exposure in the workplace, giving trainees an opportunity to develop technical skills while gaining hands-on experience in real work environments.

The engagement at RVTTI is aimed at strengthening collaboration between training institutions, industry and development partners while ensuring that TVET programmes remain responsive to the changing demands of the labour market.

The programme is expected to contribute to the development of skilled graduates equipped with practical competencies relevant to employment, entrepreneurship and industrial development.

The visit also provided an opportunity for stakeholders to review the progress made so far and discuss measures to further improve the implementation of Dual TVET training at the institution.

RVTTI continues to position practical skills development and industry linkages at the centre of its training mandate as Kenya expands efforts to equip young people with market-relevant technical and vocational skills.
