Kitutu Masaba MP Survives Road Accident After Isuzu Pickup Rams His Car in Nairobi

Kitutu Masaba MP Clive Gisairo has confirmed that he and his driver survived a road accident after their vehicle was allegedly hit from behind by a speeding Isuzu D-Max pickup while travelling to Nairobi from his constituency.

Gisairo said the accident happened on Monday night after the Isuzu D-Max, registration number KDX 961T, allegedly rammed into his vehicle from behind.

According to the legislator, the pickup lost control after the collision and rolled onto the road shoulder, while his driver managed to bring their vehicle to a safe stop despite having lost the rear right tyre.

The MP said they were able to assist the two occupants of the other vehicle shortly after the accident.

He alleged that the two occupants were later taken away from the scene in a government vehicle, registration number GKB 787J, shortly after traffic police officers arrived.

Gisairo raised concerns over the circumstances under which the two occupants were removed from the scene, saying the action took place without allowing what he described as the proper procedures to be followed by traffic police who had arrived at the accident scene.

He said he has since reported the matter to the relevant government agencies, which he said are cooperating with investigations into the incident.

According to the MP, the Ministry of Interior has also identified the two people who were travelling in the Isuzu D-Max, as well as the other ministry officers who allegedly transported them from the scene.

Gisairo said he expects the matter to be fully investigated and appropriate action taken against any officers found to have violated the law or established procedures.

“I do believe that the matter will be fully addressed and the officers be disciplined as per the law,” he said.

The MP, however, reassured his supporters that he and his driver were safe following the crash.

He said they only suffered muscle pulls resulting from the impact and thanked Kenyans and his supporters for the messages of concern and overwhelming support following news of the accident.

“Most importantly I would like to say that we are safe except for the muscle pulls of absorbing the impact,” Gisairo said.

The legislator thanked his supporters for checking on his wellbeing and sending messages after learning about the accident.

He concluded his message with a call for unity, saying, “Sasa tujenge taifa pamoja.”
