Kenya, Sri Lanka Deepen Tech and Investment Ties as KNCCI Hosts Business Delegation

 

Kenya and Sri Lanka are exploring deeper trade and investment ties, particularly in technology and business process outsourcing (BPO), following a high-level meeting between business leaders from the two countries at the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) headquarters.

KNCCI Partnership Committee Chairperson Lucy Muchoki, CEO KK Mutai, Head of Trade Simon Ndung’u and Head of Membership Anne Milia met a Sri Lankan business delegation led by Sri Lankan High Commissioner H.E. Rovini de Silva.

The delegation included representatives from the Sri Lanka Association for Software and Services Companies (SLASSCOM) and seven Sri Lankan companies—Covalent Systems, Global Frontiers Pvt Ltd, hSenid Business Solutions PLC, NCINGA, Sterling BPO Solutions Pvt Ltd, Gift₂O and MillenniumIT ESP.

The discussions focused on strengthening business-to-business links between Kenya and Sri Lanka while identifying investment opportunities within Kenya’s rapidly growing technology sector.

The two sides agreed to explore partnerships in software development and BPO, areas seen as having significant potential for cross-border collaboration, knowledge exchange and investment.

Beyond technology, the discussions also identified tourism, agriculture and textiles as other sectors where Kenyan and Sri Lankan businesses could develop mutually beneficial partnerships.

KNCCI said the engagement was part of efforts to create stronger international business linkages and provide opportunities for investors and enterprises to access new markets.

The Chamber also invited the Sri Lankan delegation to participate in the upcoming Africa Commerce and Industry Summit (ACIS2026), which it described as an important platform for connecting international investors with small and medium-sized enterprises across targeted sectors.

The summit is expected to bring together businesses and stakeholders from various sectors, creating opportunities for partnerships, investment, market access and knowledge sharing.

The Kenya-Sri Lanka engagement comes amid growing efforts by business organisations to expand international trade partnerships and position Kenya as a regional hub for technology, services and investment.
