Karakacha Condoles Families of Kikopey Crash Victims, Calls for Strict Traffic Compliance

Matatu Owners Association President Albert Karakacha has condoled with the families of five people who lost their lives in a midnight road crash involving an Easy Coach bus and a saloon car at Kikopey, Gilgil.

Karakacha expressed his condolences to the bereaved families, describing the loss of lives as a painful reminder of the need for greater responsibility and discipline on Kenya’s roads.

He called on all motorists and other road users to strictly observe traffic rules, warning that reckless behaviour on the roads can have devastating consequences.

“Pole to the family. Let us follow traffic rules,” Karakacha said, while also calling for concerted efforts to address police corruption, which he said can undermine road safety enforcement.

The Matatu Owners Association president stressed the importance of effective enforcement of traffic regulations, saying road safety requires cooperation between motorists, passengers, traffic officers and other stakeholders.

He urged drivers to exercise caution, particularly during night journeys, and to avoid behaviour that puts the lives of passengers and other road users at risk.

The Kikopey tragedy has once again brought into focus concerns over road safety and the need for stronger enforcement of traffic regulations across the country.

Karakacha said preventing such tragedies requires more than condolences after accidents occur, stressing the need for proactive measures, responsible driving and accountability among all players in the transport sector.

He extended his sympathies to the families and friends of those who lost their lives, urging motorists to treat road safety as a shared responsibility.
