Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) has received assorted electrical equipment from Ampadu and Dickpet Enterprises in a move aimed at improving lighting, security and patient mobility across the hospital compound.

The donation includes LED bulkhead security lights, fluorescent tubes, floodlights and double-pole switches, which will help enhance visibility along corridors, walkways and other critical areas, particularly during the night.

Receiving the donation, JOOTRH Chief Executive Officer Dr Joshua Okise said the support was timely, noting that adequate lighting plays a crucial role in enhancing security and enabling patients, caregivers and staff to move safely within the hospital.

Dr Okise said the hospital had invested significantly in LED solar lighting over the past year as part of efforts to improve visibility and mobility across the expansive facility. He thanked Ampadu and Dickpet Enterprises for complementing the hospital’s efforts through their community support.

Representatives of the company, Victor Omondi and Peterson Muya, called on other organisations and businesses to support JOOTRH, citing the hospital’s important role in providing specialised healthcare services to the wider community.

The hospital has also introduced several measures aimed at improving patient comfort and accessibility, including ramps connecting Wards 3A and 3B, lifts serving different wards, enhanced solar lighting, patient transport carts and upgraded access pathways.

JOOTRH says the interventions are part of its broader efforts to create a safer, more accessible and patient-friendly healthcare environment for patients, caregivers and staff.
