Jackson Kibor Estate: Court Hands Youngest Widow Eunita Jelimo Full Control of Sh3 Billion Empire

The Environment and Lands Court in Eldoret has ruled in favour of Eunita Jelimo, the fourth and youngest wife of the late businessman Jackson Kibor, in a bitter succession dispute over his multi-billion-shilling estate.

In a ruling delivered on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, Justice Emmanuel Washe dismissed a legal challenge filed by more than 16 of Kibor’s children, who had contested Jelimo’s authority to administer their late father’s estate.

The children had alleged that Jelimo relied on a forged will in her bid to take control of a substantial portion of Kibor’s wealth.

However, the court found that there was no doubt that Jelimo was the legally recognised executor of Kibor’s estate. She will administer the estate alongside Kibor’s former lawyer, Jonah Bundotich.

The estate, whose value has been estimated at more than Sh3 billion, includes several prime properties and investments in different parts of the country.

Among the assets at the centre of the succession dispute is the multi-million-shilling Kibor Building located in the heart of Eldoret City, a commercial property that has generated significant rental income over the years.

The dispute over the property escalated in January 2025 when several of Kibor’s children stormed the building and allegedly attempted to forcibly evict tenants.

The siblings accused the tenants of remitting millions of shillings in monthly rent to bank accounts controlled by Jelimo, arguing that the proceeds should instead be held pending resolution of the succession dispute.

The confrontation at the building later turned violent.

During the incident, Kibor’s son Albert Kibor assaulted Faith Jemutai, Jelimo’s sister, who was serving as caretaker of the property.

The matter proceeded to court, with the Eldoret Law Courts in March 2026 finding Albert guilty of causing grievous harm. He was subsequently sentenced to three years in prison without the option of a fine.

The latest court ruling is therefore expected to bring fresh focus to the administration of Kibor’s estate, which has been the subject of a prolonged family dispute since his death.

Kibor, who died aged 88, had publicly defended his relationship with Jelimo and frequently praised her for the role she played during his final years.

He maintained that their relationship brought him happiness and renewed energy, particularly at a time when his earlier marriages had been characterised by highly publicised disagreements and legal battles.

“Yunita has taken good care of me in my sunset years and I don't regret my decision. She made me feel younger and more energetic,” Kibor was quoted as saying during one of his public appearances.

With the court now recognising Jelimo as the executor, the focus shifts to how the Sh3 billion estate will be managed, including the administration of the contested commercial properties and distribution of the deceased businessman’s wealth among the beneficiaries.
