Soy Member of Parliament David Kiplagat on Monday commissioned the groundbreaking for the upgrading of the Greenfield–Winners Road to bitumen standard in Kuinet-Kapsuswa Ward, marking a major step towards improving transport and connectivity in the area.

The road project is expected to ease movement of people and goods, reduce transport challenges and open up new economic opportunities for residents who rely on the route for trade and other daily activities.

Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony, Kiplagat described the project as a major milestone for the people of Kuinet-Kapsuswa Ward, saying improved road infrastructure would play a critical role in accelerating development and enhancing access to markets and essential services.

The Soy MP said the upgrading of the road would also benefit farmers and small-scale traders by making it easier and more affordable to transport agricultural produce to markets.

Kiplagat called on residents to support development programmes being implemented by the national government, saying continued collaboration between local communities and the government was essential in ensuring projects reach the people.

The legislator also urged residents to support President William Ruto’s bid for a second term, arguing that continued support for the Kenya Kwanza administration would help sustain ongoing development projects across the country.

He asked residents to remain united and focused on development, saying political support should be anchored on the government's ability to deliver infrastructure and other services to citizens.

The groundbreaking comes as road infrastructure remains a key priority for communities seeking improved connectivity and economic growth.

Residents of Kuinet-Kapsuswa Ward are expected to benefit from the improved road once the project is completed, with better connectivity anticipated to stimulate trade, improve access to markets and enhance movement between surrounding areas.

Kiplagat said he would continue working with relevant government agencies to ensure development projects within Soy Constituency are implemented for the benefit of residents.

The project is being viewed by local residents as an important investment in the constituency's transport network and a boost to efforts aimed at unlocking the economic potential of the area.
