RVTTI Joins VET4HYDROGEN Drive to Boost Green Hydrogen Skills and Jobs in Kenya

Rift Valley Technical Training Institute (RVTTI) has joined a new initiative aimed at strengthening green hydrogen skills and creating employment opportunities for Kenyan youth through technical and vocational education.

RVTTI participated in the launch of the Training of Trainers (ToT) programme and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between SDTVET and ICU under the VET4HYDROGEN Project at KSTVET.

The initiative seeks to equip trainers and learners with the technical skills required to participate in Kenya's emerging green hydrogen sector.

The VET4HYDROGEN Project is designed to strengthen collaboration within the technical and vocational education and training sector while preparing institutions and their graduates for opportunities arising from the development of green hydrogen technologies.

Focus on skills and employment

The project places emphasis on developing a skilled workforce capable of supporting Kenya's transition towards cleaner energy.

Through the Training of Trainers programme, instructors are expected to gain relevant knowledge and practical skills that can subsequently be passed on to students in technical and vocational institutions.

The initiative is also expected to enhance collaboration between training institutions and industry stakeholders, helping ensure that training programmes respond to emerging labour-market needs.

RVTTI's participation highlights the institution's growing involvement in programmes focused on emerging technologies, skills development and employment creation.

RVTTI represented at launch

RVTTI was represented at the event by the Registrar, Head of Agriculture Madam Sharon and Mr. Maraga.

Their participation provided an opportunity for the institution to engage with other stakeholders involved in the VET4HYDROGEN initiative and explore ways of strengthening technical training in the green hydrogen sector.

The project comes at a time when Kenya is seeking to expand its renewable energy and green economy sectors, creating demand for specialised technical skills.

By participating in the programme, RVTTI is positioning its trainers and learners to benefit from emerging opportunities in green hydrogen and related technologies.

The institution said the initiative will contribute to building a workforce equipped with relevant skills while promoting partnerships across Kenya's technical and vocational education sector.

The launch of the Training of Trainers programme and the signing of the MoU mark a significant step towards strengthening Kenya's capacity to train professionals who can support the country's emerging green hydrogen economy.
