Ruto Hails Chipu After Record 4th Barthés Trophy Win, Sets Sights on World Stage

President William Ruto has congratulated Kenya's Under-20 national rugby team, Chipu, after their commanding victory over Namibia in the 2026 Rugby Africa U20 Barthés Trophy final in Kampala, Uganda.

Chipu secured the continental title with a 33-14 victory over Namibia, earning Kenya a record fourth Barthés Trophy.

“We celebrate the Kenya Under-20 national rugby team, Chipu, for bringing home the 2026 Rugby Africa U20 Barthés Trophy after a commanding 33-14 victory over Namibia in Kampala, Uganda,” President Ruto said.

The Head of State said the team's record fourth title demonstrates the potential of Kenya's young sporting talent.
