Prof. Nura Mohamed Champions Strategic Partnership to Strengthen Evidence-Based Governance

Kenya School of Government (KSG) Director General Prof. Nura Mohamed has continued to advance his vision of building a responsive, innovative and future-ready public service through strategic institutional partnerships aimed at strengthening evidence-based governance and sustainable national development.

Prof. Mohamed, accompanied by the Chairperson of the Kenya School of Government Council, Justice (Rtd.) Charles Nyachae, paid a courtesy call on the Director General of the Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute (KMFRI), Dr. Paul Orina, to explore areas of collaboration between the two institutions.

The high-level engagement underscored the critical role of partnerships in promoting research-driven policymaking and enhancing the capacity of public institutions to respond effectively to emerging governance and development challenges.

The leaders identified several priority areas for collaboration, including research, evidence-based public policy, capacity development, climate change governance, the blue economy, environmental sustainability and knowledge exchange. They also explored opportunities for joint policy dialogues and collaborative research initiatives aimed at strengthening leadership across the public sector.

Prof. Mohamed noted that bringing together KSG's expertise in public sector leadership and governance with KMFRI's scientific research capabilities presents a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between research and policymaking, ensuring that government decisions are informed by credible evidence and innovation.

The initiative reflects Prof. Mohamed's commitment to positioning the Kenya School of Government as a centre of excellence in public service training, leadership development and policy innovation. Under his stewardship, KSG has continued to foster strategic collaborations that equip public servants with the knowledge, skills and competencies required to navigate complex national and global challenges.
