Eldoret National Polytechnic Launches TVET Recruitment Drive in Kesses

The Eldoret National Polytechnic has intensified efforts to increase access to technical and vocational education and training (TVET) opportunities after its marketing team embarked on a recruitment drive targeting prospective trainees in Kesses Sub-County, Uasin Gishu County.

The recruitment exercise is being conducted by the institution’s Marketing Team in collaboration with the State Department for TVET and National Government Administration Officers, with the aim of reaching young people at the grassroots and creating greater awareness of the opportunities available in technical and vocational training.

The team was flagged off by Deputy Principal Academics Madam Peninnah Ogutu and Registrar Administration Mr. Kili Solomon on behalf of the Chief Principal, Dr. Charles Koech, OGW.

Speaking during the flagging-off exercise, the officials encouraged the team to engage communities directly and provide prospective trainees with accurate information on the courses, admission requirements and opportunities available at the institution.

The outreach comes as the government continues to promote TVET as an important pathway for equipping young people with practical skills that can improve their employability, entrepreneurship and participation in the economy.

Through the recruitment campaign, the marketing team is expected to interact with young people, parents, community leaders and other stakeholders within Kesses Sub-County, explaining the benefits of technical and vocational training and encouraging eligible youth to consider enrolling.

The collaboration with National Government Administration Officers is expected to enhance the reach of the exercise by helping the recruitment team connect with communities and local administrative structures.

The officers will also play a role in facilitating mobilisation and ensuring that information about TVET opportunities reaches residents across different locations within the sub-county.

The Eldoret National Polytechnic has continued to position itself as an institution providing skills-oriented education designed to prepare trainees for employment and self-employment.

The recruitment campaign is therefore intended not only to increase enrolment but also to address misconceptions that may discourage some young people from pursuing technical training.

TVET institutions offer training in a wide range of technical, business and applied disciplines, providing learners with practical competencies that can be used in the workplace or to establish their own enterprises.

For young people who may not have pursued traditional university education, TVET provides an alternative route to acquiring professional and technical skills.

The Kesses recruitment exercise is expected to run across various areas of the sub-county as the team engages potential trainees and responds to questions from members of the public.

Officials have urged eligible youth to take advantage of the outreach programme and seek information on available training opportunities rather than remaining outside the formal skills-development system.

The exercise also comes at a time when skills development has become an increasingly important component of efforts to address youth unemployment and prepare young people for changing labour-market demands.

By taking the recruitment campaign directly to communities, the Eldoret National Polytechnic and its partners hope to make TVET opportunities more accessible to prospective trainees who may otherwise lack sufficient information about available programmes.

The institution's leadership has called on the recruitment team to maintain a strong community presence throughout the exercise and ensure that prospective trainees receive guidance on the steps required to join the institution.

As the team begins its work in Kesses, the campaign is expected to contribute to increased awareness of TVET programmes while strengthening the connection between training institutions, government agencies and communities.
